Bluebirds chase Curtis

Cardiff City are chasing former Manchester United defender John Curtis.

Bluebirds boss Dave Jones has offered Curtis a 12-month deal to play at Ninian Park.

The 26-year-old is currently a free agent following his release from Nottingham Forest at the end of the season.

It is believed, however, that Cardiff face competition from Championship rivals Derby County and Plymouth Argyle.

Curtis began his career at Old Trafford before a moving to Blackburn Rovers in 2000 where he made 78 appearances.

Since then, he has played for a number of clubs, finishing last season at the City Ground.

Curtis said last year: "I'm 26 years old and I've already played for eight different clubs and I've always tended to move about a lot during my career.

"People tend to sign me as a squad player and maybe I've suffered a little bit from that tag during my career."

Curtis could fill the gap in the centre of defence left by Danny Gabbidon and James Collins who both left to join West Ham last week.
