Cameron Jerome has been handed the number 10 shirt at Cardiff City, formerly worn by Rob Earnshaw, but is pleading with fans: "Please don't compare me to Earnie!"
Jerome has already hit four goals for the south Wales club in pre-season and has admitted: "I just love scoring goals.
"It's great to have the number 10 shirt and it's inevitable that people will compare Earnie and I," he added.
"He is a quality striker and a record goalscorer, while I am just breaking through. I don't want to be compared to Earnie because I am my own player.
"I'm just out to do the best I can for Cardiff City.
'"I am focused on doing my best for Cardiff City.
"If things go well then maybe other things will follow, but first I have to work hard for my club and then see how things develop."
So far the 18-year old has made 32 first team appearances for City, 10 of them as substitute, scoring seven goals.
And with a stuttering attack, new City boss Dave Jones will be hoping Jerome can find the net frequently this season as they look to overcome a disappointing campaign last season.
