Koumas is a genius

Cardiff City owner Sam Hammam today vowed his club will utilize the 'genius' of Welsh international Jason Koumas.

Hammam says Koumas - who signed on a season-long loan from Premiership side West Brom last week - is THE key player in City's bid to mount a Coca-Cola Championship play-offs challenge.

He said: "Jason is a kind of genius.

"You can't restrict them and you have to give them the chance to perform.

"He has no business playing in the Championship, not even in the lower half of the Premiership. In fact he should be performing in the top part of the Premiership.

"But he is now a Cardiff City player and we are delighted with that.

"He is such a talent, yet we are confident Dave Jones can bring out the best in him.

"I know he can harness Jason's unbelievable talent and channel it in such a way that ensures it is a huge benefit to Cardiff City."

Koumas was released by West Brom after falling out with manager Bryan Robson, who says there's little chance of a return to the Hawthorns as Robson maintains there are many players ahead of him in his squad.

Koumas played half an hour against his former club in Sunday's 2-0 friendly defeat at Ninian Park, having little chance to make an impact. But Hammam is covinced that Koumas will do big things for the south Wales club this season.
