Wales international midfielder Jason Koumas is hoping his season-long return to Wales with Cardiff City can help relaunch his international career by impressing Wales coach John Toshack.
The 25-year old has had a troubled time at West Brom, with questions raised over his commitment to both his club and country, however, he insists he is desperate to play for Wales again under Toshack.
Koumas said: "It is exciting to be playing in front of Welsh supporters, and the Cardiff fans are known for their passion.
"I need to be playing every week if I am to remain in the international set-up.
"With the game against England coming up, this gives me a platform to show John Toshack that I am still worth a place in the side.
"I wasn't happy with my form towards the end of last season and was in and out of the West Brom team.
"I'm just relishing the chance of regular football again and I'm glad to see the back of Bryan Robson."
West Brom manager Robson publically slated Koumas last season after seeing the former Tranmere Rovers man fail to act on advice given by former boss Gary Megson and himself to improve his game, which ultimately saw Koumas rarely feature for the Baggies.
However, Robson has refused to be drawn into a public slanging match with Koumas and instead said: "I hope Jason goes on to prove he is a good footballer at Cardiff. I hope he prospers in his time there and I wish him good luck.
"Unfortunately I have players here who are ahead of him in the queue for a first-team place."
Bluebirds boss Dave Jones however is more than happy to have a player of Koumas' calibre on board as he looks to put together a squad with a very tight budget.
Jones explained: "Jason is another piece in the jigsaw. With him putting pen to paper, it shows once again our commitment to the promise of bringing in new faces to Ninian Park.
As we understand it West Brom have the right to recall Koumas during either of the transfer windows next season, should he be required, while they have also given Cardiff first refusal if they want to make the player's transfer permanent, which would involve the Bluebirds finding £1.5m up front, with a further £250,000 based on appearances and another £250,000 should Cardiff be promoted to the Premiership.
Cardiff chairman Sam Hammam said: "Undoubtedly, Jason has the ability to be as good as the best in the Premier League.
"We consider his acquisition as a major signing and one of our key targets this summer.
"We believe Dave Jones and his coaching staff can harness the incredible amount of talent this unique player has and channel it in the right direction."
