Cardiff City are understood to have asked the Football League to switch the dates of two of their Championship fixtures for the new season.

The Bluebirds have requested the visit of Coventry to Ninian Park on Saturday November 5 to be put back a day to avoid Wales' rugby union international against New Zealand at the Millennium Stadium.

They also want their home match against Ipswich on Saturday November 26 to be moved forward 24 hours to avoid a clash with the Wales v Australia rugby match, also at the Millennium Stadium.

Cardiff have also learned that their home meeting with Watford on Saturday August 13 will now take place on the previous night and screened by SKY TV.

Further requests to the FL include changes to the kick-off times for the home game against Plymouth on Boxing Day and the visit of Southampton on New Year's Eve be switched from 3pm to 1pm.

Reading have also applied to have their home clash against the Bluebirds on 2 January to be switched from 3pm to 1pm.
