Former West Brom defender and captain Darren Purse is set to be named Cardiff City captain after being unveiled yesterday at last night's friendly with Udinese.
Purse was one of four new signings confirmed by manager Dave Jones, along with Phil Mulryne, Kevin Cooper and Jason Koumas and Jones will turn to the experienced defender to lead a new-look Bluebirds team.
Purse will take over the captaincy in time for the start of the Coca-Cola Championship campaign despite Neil Cox leading the side out last night - tipped by many to challenge Neal Ardley for the captain's armband.
Fans can rest assured that Purse is no stranger to the armband - becoming Baggies skipper just a handful games into 2004 following his move to the club, while the 28-year old was skipper at Leyton Orient during hsi time with the club in the Nineties.
