Swansea to pay for Akinfenwa

Swansea City have been told they must pay up to £110,000 to Torquay as compensation for signing Adebayo Akinfenwa.

The 23-year-old striker moved to the New Stadium from Plainmoor earlier in July after a long-running battle between the chairmen of the respective clubs.

As we understand it Swansea must pay Torquay an initial £35,000 in two installments, with a further £50,000 linked to appearances.

Should Swansea win promotion to the Championship they will have to pay a further £25,000, while Torquay will receive 15% of any future transfer fee should Akinfenwa move away from south Wales for a fee.
