Welsh striker Craig Bellamy has insisted yesterday that his Blackburn Rovers team mate Robbie Savage and Wales boss John Toshack would have no problem working together.
Bellamy also revealed he is desperate to see the pair end their public row and Savage's return to the international scene.
Bellamy appears to be pulling club line with his comments, just days after his club boss Mark Hughes also called for Toshack to declare whether Savage still had a place to fight for with Wales.
Bellamy believes that Savage has put the past behind him and is desperate to wear the Wales shirt again despite annoucing his international retirement just months ago, before reversing his decision and declaring himself available for international selection again.
Wales seem very unlikely to qualify for the play-offs for the World Cup finals in 2006, and with Toshack looking to launch a major bid for Euro 2008 qualification, Bellamy believes that Toshack cannot hide from the services that Savage could offer him.
"Working with the boss John Toshack has been very good, and I know they would get on," Bellamy insisted.
"I don't think they had enough time together to hit it off.
"I know Sav regrets what he said. I've been there myself - you say silly things on the spur of the moment.
"It's an awkward situation. We all lose out as players because he's a terrific player and someone who's great to have around.
"And I always think of Robbie as being a great example to young players.
"I'm sure he won't mind me saying that he's not the most technically gifted of players, but he works so hard for other players to get on the ball.
"And his passion for the game is unreal. He's one of the most passionate players I've met."
As yet there is no indication from Toshack's camp on whether Savage will be included in the squad to face Slovenia in two week's time, however, Bellamy is convinced Toshack cannot afford to overlook him.
"Robbie regrets what he said and would like to play for Wales again," said the former Newcastle United striker.
"We've got the right man in charge and it's up to him. Whatever he chooses won't affect me personally.
"But we could benefit from Robbie playing again. He's a good player who we definitely need in the squad because we haven't got the numbers that other nations have got.
"I like Sav as a person. He's a great lad to have about and I'd love to see him there."
Savage himself will be hoping to feature at some point in Wales' game at the New Stadium against Slovenia in a bid to prove his worth before the massive clash with England on September 3.
