"We had to clear off the line twice so they'll be disappointed, the Euskari, and feel they should have at least drawn or won the game," said Tosh.

"But we had chances even when we weren't playing that well and finished the game quite strongly."

"The result will give particularly some of the younger ones a bit of confidence," Toshack added.

"Once again Nyatanga did okay and Ledley, in a wing-back position a little bit strange to him, did okay as well.

"But we still haven't found the right balance and if we may have to sacrifice a little bit in attack to be more solid.

"It was hard out there but a good work-out, well worthwhile.

"The Basques are good technical players, sound La Liga performers and they did not make it easy for us.

"They could have had a couple early on and have plenty of quality and movement.

"But we matched that, played some neat, controlled football, and it was really rewarding against some very experienced international players who have been playing well in top Spanish football for a long time."
