Former Wales international Andy Johnson is keen to get a good run in the West Brom this season.
After spending a few months on the sidelines watching Albion's battle against relegation last term, Johnson will return to action this month determined to make up for lost time.
Johnson admitted he was very frustrated at being unable to play any part in the final five months of the campaign after suffering knee ligament damage at Fulham in January.
He said: "It was unfortunate to suffer the injury at the time as Albion were just beginning to put together a good run of results.
"But I suffered this injury against Fulham as a result of a naughty tackle.
"Even at the time I was fully aware it was serious. So it was very bad timing as far as I was concerned.
"I didn't enjoy sitting on the sidelines but the staff and lads were very good to me and I never felt left out of what was going on.
"This is why I'm just itching to get back into action after the knee ligament problem.
"I've had no break this summer. I've had a lot of physio treatment and now I'm feeling fine and just looking forward to the new season.
"It's going to be a tremendous challenge to build on those good end-of-season performances.
"Obviously it is a big step-up but we have to aim to get out of the bottom section and into a middle-of-the-table position.
"Our prospects look good, there is a great spirit in the squad and there is no reason why we cannot produce some good results against the top teams, as we did at Arsenal last season.
"There is an early visit to Chelsea and I see no reason why we cannot produce the same kind of result if we remain nice and solid to make it difficult for the opposition.
"The manager Bryan Robson has made some good signings with the arrival of Steve Watson, Darren Carter, Chris Kirkland and Diomansy Kamara."
Johnson believes the Albion squad is now stronger and capable of competing more on an equal footing with many Premiership sides as opposed to be fighting another relegation battle for much of the season.
