Rafa Benitez put the Welshman into the starting line up at the JJB and within the first 30 mins Bellamy had scored twice and just before half time he unselfishly set up Kuyt to score Liverpool's third rather than go for the hat trick. A Lee McCulloch og completed the scoring.
"It is always nice to score and I'm delighted but it was more important the team won and it was a very satisfying win for us," said Bellamy.
"It was good to get the early goal and it settled us down and it was a bit of a strange first half but we played some good football."
Another striker, John Hartson was on target as he scored a last minute winner for W.B.A. against Derby.
