Mark Hughes is the only Welsh manager in the Premiership after Chris Coleman was sacked by Fulham.

Fulham are just four points above the relegation zone and they have decided to fight off the threat of the drop by appointing Northern Ireland manager Lawrie Sanchez in charge as a caretaker until the end of the season.

As things stand Sanchez stays as Northern Ireland's manager. but his superiors have stated to make contingency plans.

"Lawrie wants to make it absolutely clear he remains committed to Northern Ireland," say the IFA.

"We do not have any contingency plans in place but any self-respecting organisation is going to be looking at what may or may not happen.

"We are thinking about our options were Lawrie to stay or go, assuming there may be offers for him.

"You would be foolish to think he would resign one day and you would find somebody the next."
