Didier Drogba has signalled his intention to let his goals do the talking this season and hopes to "make a difference" in Chelsea's bid for trophies, despite being called "a donkey" by some fans after a disappointing time last season.
Drogba was the difference yesterday as he netted both goals in the 2-1 Community Shield victory over Arsenal at the Millennium Stadium as he looks to make an impression on manager Jose Mourinho ahead of Sunday's game with Wigan Athletic - Chelsea's first of the season.
Hernan Crespo has arrived back at Stamford Bridge following a successful spell in Italy with Milan, and it rumours have it that Crespo could replace Drogba up front in Mourinho's first team.
Drogba, however, has produced some good pre-season displays as fans begin to get uneasy about the Frenchman scoring just 16 goals in 41 appearances last term following a £24million pound move from Marseille.
Drogba said: "I do not want to speak or say 'I am happy' or 'I am not happy' - the only answer I can give is on the pitch.
"I only want to play - the only way I have to answer is on the pitch - nothing else.
"It is not the most important thing to start, it is that you make a difference when you come on, to make the difference for the team."
Drogba added: "I feel comfortable now because I have rested a lot and that was what I needed.
"Now I hope I will not have any injuries this year and can improve."
He insisted: "We have another week to improve, and we will work harder because we have to if we are to keep the championship."
