Newcastle United midfielder Jermaine Jenas is understood to be on the verge of asking to leave St James' Park - essentially paving the way for a £10million move to Tottenham.
As Newcastle opened talks with Francesco Coco yesterday, we believe that England midfielder Jenas unhappy with the state of affairs at the troubled club that he is on the verge of handing in a transfer request.
Jenas is known to have been unsettled for some time and news of interest from Spurs will only fuel the fire for the gifted youngster.
Newcastle are keen to hang on to Jenas however, they themselves aren't exactly flush when it comes to the coffers and with no fewer than 9 midfielders at the club, with possibly another coming in, they would be wise to sell.
Jenas has already been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United, with both clubs looking to replace experienced central midfielders, however, neither have shown interest at the valuation offered by Shepherd.
