Bolton have completed the signing of 31-year old Mexico striker Jared Borgetti after he passed a medical at the Reebok Stadium.

Borgetti, has agreed a two-year deal with the Premiership club and Bolton will have to pay around £1m to his current club Pachuca.

Borgetti, who will be the first Mexican to play in the Premiership, said: "I can't wait to get started - I will take three weeks off to rest and be ready to make an impact on the Premiership.

"This is a great honour for me to play for Bolton in the strongest league in the world."

Borgetti is currently Mexico's joint all-time leading goalscorer with 35 goals and will add further experience to Bolton's strikeforce.

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce said: "His pedigree is excellent but the Premiership is still unknown to him and he will have to be at his best to make the impact we are looking for.

"It is a massive challenge for both the player and the club and I do know he has the mental strength to make it a success in England."

Like a number of Premiership managers this summer, Alladyce has suffered a tricky time in the transfer market, with only England international goalkeeper Ian Walker joining his side.

However, the wheeler-dealer, who has made some major coups in previous seasons is confident of adding to his squad ahead of their opening fixture at Aston Villa on August 13.
