Newcastle United boss Graeme Souness has revealed that Spurs have made a bid for England international Jermaine Jenas - but has warned rival clubs he would want around £15m for the troubled midfielder.

Souness is keen to keep the 22-year old at St James' Park, despite this week admitting the midfielder is unsettled on Tyneside, however, with the transfer window due to close at the end of the month, it is understood that teams could launch bids to take the youngster away from the north-east.

Souness made clear that the Magpies will consider any substantial offer for the England international, who has also been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal and Middlesbrough.

"From our point of view, we want to keep him," Souness said today.

"He's a valuable member of the squad and we're looking to build things here."

Souness added: "We did a month ago, I believe from Tottenham Hotspur, but as far as I know that's not been followed up.

"That decision will be taken by the chairman. If we were offered £15m for JJ I think that would get him thinking, but that's not the case so that's not an issue."
