Jones is named in Brian Flynn's U21 squad to face Estonia next week and was expected to be part of the senior squad that play a Basque XI and the following week Trindad and Tobago. His inclusion in the U21 will be reviewed after he sees the specialist on Thursday.
Initial swelling on his knee has gone down but the fear is he will need an operation and that will rule him out until next season.
