Koumas can reach potential

Cardiff City boss Dave Jones believes that a new start with Cardiff City can help Jason Koumas be the player he has the potential to be.

Midfielder Koumas has had a lot of problems during his time at West Bromwich Albion, falling down the pecking order in Bryan Robson's eye and has been keen to reignite his flailing career.

Jones said: "A lot of the things thrown at Jason are unwarranted and I've found him nothing but a nice, quiet lad who just wants to do well.

"We will have our disagreements as you do with anybody in the squad, but sometimes a move is the making of a player. The move is the best thing for Jason.

"He realised that for the last six months he hasn't done himself justice not playing. It happened to me many years ago - and the only person you hurt is yourself.

"What went on at West Bromwich Albion is now gone. He's under a new manager now and Cardiff City can give him a new lease of life.

"I can get the best out of Jason. I wouldn't sign any player if I didn't think I could get the best out of him.

"If I sign somebody and can't do anything with him, then why would I bring him to the football club?'

Koumas is expected to make his Cardiff City league debut tomorrow, depsite not having been involved with the Bluebirds for long, however Jones could play Koumas just behind his main striker in a 4-4-1-1 formation at Ipswich.
