| Leon Knight's sublime first-half double booked Swansea's passage to Cardiff and heaped more play-off misery on Brentford. The tiny striker stunned Brentford with two moments of brilliance to leave Swansea 90 minutes away from the Championship. For Brentford it was another play off failure as Martin Allen's men failed to shine despite home advantage. Knight single-handedly killed the game off in the first 15 minutes to leave Brentford facing up to their sixth play-off failure. Swansea keeper Willy Gueret's long free-kick on eight minutes didn't look to cause too many problems. But after the ball bounced over Rory Fallon, Knight produced a stunning deft flick from the edge of the area to leave Brentford keeper Stuart Nelson stranded. And just seven minutes later, Knight topped his first goal after a mistake by Andy Frampton. The left-back's slip let Leon Britton play in Knight and took one touch before firing past Nelson from 18 yards out. The goals took the stuffing out of Brentford who looked out of sorts. Allen made changes and went more attacking in the second half bringing on Sam Tillen and Paul Brooker. But the Swansea defence stood firm and snuffed out any Brentford attacks. Calum Willock saw a header drift over and Kevin O'Connor saw his 20-yard curling free kick well clutched out of the air by Gueret. Swansea duo Fallon and Tom Williams both wasted chances to extend their lead but the damage was already done. |
