Wrexham to extend Linwood loan

League Two side Wrexham hope to keep Tranmere defender Paul Linwood at the club for a second month as they continue to be blighted by injuries.

The 21-year-old's current deal ends on Monday, however, with four players out with long-term injuries, boss Denis Smith is keen to extend Linwood's loan spell in north Wales.

Matt Crowell and Jim Whitley (knee), Shaun Pejic (ligaments) and Lee Roche (hernia) are all long-term injuries, while wing-back Andy Holt (thigh), striker Lee McEvilly (ankle) and goalkeeper Mike Ingham (calf) are also currently sidelined.

Smith has the added problem of combatting international call ups, with four players expected to join up with their respective countries for World Cup qualifiers next month.
